I would like to start by saying I really appreciate the good work you are doing in spreading the good news and teaching the bible truth. You really helped me understand most of the verses in the bible. My question is about Romans 8:9, this verse is a problem in our field. Most “born agains” uses this verse to justify trinity (Jesus is god almighty).
I understand very well that this verse talks about 144 000 of which Paul the apostle is one of them and I understand very well that holy spirit is Jehovah’s active force LUKE 11:20. My question is: what does it mean when it says: “the spirit of god lives in you”? Does it mean the same thing as Romans 8:16: “the spirit testifies with our spirit”?
This verse talk of Spirit of god and Spirit of Christ, How do you explain that? I quoted this verse from NIV because my Student uses it. I need clarification on this verse, I feel I am not explaining it the way I should do.
Thank you for your kind comments. "However, you are in harmony, not with the flesh, but with the spirit, if God’s spirit truly dwells in you. But if anyone does not have Christ’s spirit, this person does not belong to him." (Romans 8:9)
The Scripture is referring to the 'adoption as sons'. "For all who are led by God’s spirit are indeed God’s sons. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery causing fear again, but you received a spirit of adoption as sons, by which spirit we cry out: “Abba, Father!” The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children. If, then, we are children, we are also heirs—heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ—provided we suffer together so that we may also be glorified together."(Romans 8:14-17)
For example, to which one of the angels did God ever say: “You are my son; today I have become your father”? And again: “I will become his father, and he will become my son”? (Hebrews 1:5) The question is a rhetorical one to which angel. The Apostle Paul later identifies this angel as Christ. "So, too, the Christ did not glorify himself by becoming a high priest, but was glorified by the One who said to him: “You are my son; today I have become your father.” (Hebrews 5:5) If we are to believe that Jesus is Almighty God, then are we to conclude that Almighty God was begotten a second time? Whom became Almighty God's Father? Did Almighty God die for our sins?
"Although he was a son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered." (Hebrews 5:8) If the trinity was true, shouldn't the scripture read (Although he was God Almighty, he learned obedience from the things he suffered) Who is Almighty God going to obey??
The Holy Spirit can bring forth 'Sons' can it not? Uh-oh.... it's interesting that the trinitarian is not claiming the Holy Spirit is God Almighty in Romans 8:9?? "We know that God makes all his works cooperate together for the good of those who love God, those who are the ones called according to his purpose; because those whom he gave his first recognition he also foreordained to be patterned after the image of his Son, so that he might be the firstborn among many brothers." (Romans 8:28-29)
How is it, that Almighty God might be the firstborn among many brothers? The trinity rejects the teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus called his Father, the only true God in (John 17:3).
Those who are 'being born again" are being brought forth a second time in becoming a new creation by Holy Spirit. "So from now on we know no man from a fleshly viewpoint. Even if we once knew Christ according to the flesh, we certainly no longer know him in that way. Therefore, if anyone is in union with Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; look! new things have come into existence." (2 Corinthians 5: 16-17)
There are many feminine nouns that speak about Jesus Christ being a Creation. It's symbolism in regard of being 'brought forth' as through labor pains.
Strong's Concordance
ktisis: creation (the act or the product)
Original Word: κτίσις, εως, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: ktisis Phonetic Spelling: (ktis'-is) Short Definition: creation, creature, institution Definition: (often of the founding of a city), (a) abstr: creation, (b) concr: creation, creature, institution; always of Divine work, (c) an institution, ordinance.
When scriptures show the Deity of Christ as a Creation, it is often rejected by trinitarians. So let me end with this.... Who is this scripture speaking about? "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;" (Col 1:15) Jesus Christ or Almighty God? To say that Almighty God is firstborn of all creation is a theological error and denies the Christ. "For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those not acknowledging Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist." (2 John 7)
