Hi Bro Rando, I hope you are doing well.
How would you deal with the situation where you are asked to pray first before you dish out your 5 mnts sermon at the house?
Most people in our territory believe that if you want to have JW go away, you just ask them to pray and they will take their bags and leave. "THEY ARE AFRAID OF PRAYER"
I usually explain to them that before we come to their houses, we have a meeting for field service lasts from up to 7 minutes, which includes organizing the groups, assigning territory, and saying a prayer. We include them in our prayer.
Another point i usually raise is: praying would contradict Jesus commands as recorded in Mat 10: 10 - 14? "JESUS NEVER INSTRUCT HIS APOSTLES TO PRAY BEFORE THE SERMON "
Looking forward to your answer
Phil
Thanks for answering my questions Brother. Mat 5:43-44 and 1 John 5:14 will be of much help to me in field service.
Thank you for your question. I enjoyed your explanation, "I usually explain to them that before we come to their houses, we have a meeting for field service lasts from up to 7 minutes, which includes organizing the groups, assigning territory, and saying a prayer. We include them in our prayer."
We pray for those in our territory before we go out to them from house to house. Here's a Scripture where Jesus was teaching and giving instructions to his disciples: You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you," (Matthew 5:43-44) So the answer is that we already did, it's a teaching from our Lord Jesus Christ.
